hystorectomy, can it drive you nuts?

I am now 42 in 2006 I had to have a hystorectomy because I had an 8 pound tumor, was not cancer, can it make you feel like its driving me insane? my obgyn doc says that if he puts me on hormone replacemnt it will cause my cancer cells to go wild, is that or can that be true? help
